Intellectual Property (IP) is a necessary evil for all businesses. Whether coming up with a name for your business or product, working with a developer or contractor, or pitching your product concept to an investor, you need to know: 1) is my competitive advantage being adequately protected? and 2) if I start selling my product, am I going to get sued?  Knowledge of your IP position can help you answer these questions before you can get into legal hot water.

Molly Kocialski, the Director of the Rocky Mountain Regional US Patent and Trademark Office, will give you an overview of the different types of IP protection (trademarks, patents, copyrights, trade secrets) and tell you how you can use them to your advantage from the USPTO perspective.

Brent Johnson, Partner at Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti, will interject with his perspective, representing clients in front of the USPTO.
