Limited Capacity seats available

Blockchain’s distributed ledger technology is particularly well suited to allow creators to protect their original works on an immutable database which provides dates of registration, provenance, authentication and contact information.

The U.S. Copyright Office is on a mission to modernize its current database of works by utilizing new technologies to better interact with creatives in protecting their original works of authorship, and Blockchain is a possible solution. While registration is not required in the U.S., it provides a number of distinct legal advantages for the enforcement of rights against infringement, as well as recording assignment, transfers and licenses.

This panel focuses on a discussion around implementing blockchain technology as a use-case for modernizing the U.S. Copyright’s current system and move toward a means to providing public notice and securing ownership and transfer information.
